Make keyboard shortcut more reliable
Currently the keyboard shortcut will not work if Top Sites or a blank page is open, or if the address bar is selected.

second search parameter
Hi, KeySearch is great, but for some purposes (i.e. searching phone numbers by name AND city) it would be a comfortable option to pass a second search parameter (maybe spearated by a special character)

Keywords or queries containing a colon (":") do not work via the address bar
Safari throws up an error if a colon is used in the address bar as it tries to parse the text as a url.
If you encounter this problem while trying to use Google's 'site:example.com' feature, you can work around it by using KeySearch's '>' syntax like so:
>example.com my query

Modal bar, URLs, autofill
I love the modal bar and have set a custom search for entering URLs so I can have my safari toolbar hidden full time. But if it could recognize full URLs then I could copy and paste an address into it. Also, some sort of autocomplete functionality for search terms / URLs in the modal search would really round it out. Cheers.

Bug with Command Click
When set to open in current window, Command click in modal pop up opens in new tab (correctly), while in toolbar it opens an additional background tab.

my perfect results setting
I don't know if it's possible but i would like to open results setting in a new tab ONLY if the current tab is not blank (I easily get blank pages due to my safari settings). This will avoid me to have useless blank tabs.

Keywords containing symbols can be unreliable
Keywords containing symbols can be unreliable. In particular enabling and disabling them using the on/off switch doesn't always work.
This is because the keyword is used as the CSS id, causing problems if it contains disallowed characters.

Emoji in urls
Search in address bar is the best thing ever. Not that these are common, but I just discovered that KeySearch takes over with URLs containing emoji characters and you can't actually go to that url.

Add a Duplicate command to the tool gear
My many years of compute use and GUI programming have led me to the very strong conviction that wherever some kind of list of entries appears in any application, utility, tool, etc. the menu for operating on the currently selected entry should include a Duplicate command. (The shortcut command-D is very widely used for this.)
